Dreamkeepers The Video Game - Gameplay Preview

Description

I wanted to motivate myself in programming again, so I kinda messed around with GameMaker and this came out. I kinda like this program so I adjusted and improved it with a few tweaks. Also, I wanted to do something with Twitcher's Sprite as well, I mean it's not just for the art submission.

Um, a lot of people were wondering on the power that Mace used in this game. To be honest, I got the idea on the early artwork of Smiley's poster, so this power is hypothetical and not final.  Of course, the boss here is Twitcher and the arena is somewhere in the molten "wax pit" in the abandoned museum. Originally, Twitcher is held with a chain on top in order to look like he's swinging than floating and the arena was firstly meant to be in a waxy dining-like area. The floating blue balls are Twitcher's napalm flames. There's supposed to be another attack where he brings down falling wax stalagmites and spits molten wax to the middle platform, but they were all scrapped due to the limited knowledge on the program system.

I kinda removed Mace's Running animation (Left & Right) but it will only make his controls stiffer and harder (and awkward). The projectile that he fires are the purplish energy in the early artwork in Smiley's poster which he shoots it at his tongue. The jumping is okay but the only problem is the case of "double jumping/flying" in the air. This is cause by an incomplete program in him. The blue glowing energy restores Mace's health (at the bottom-left of the screen). I used MegaMan's controls in order to make the gameplay more fluent.

Note this is just for fun and giggles cuz I kinda feel bored when I'm doing the 3 games. But IF you want to see more of it (such as Bast, Lilith or Namah), I'll try to make it a bit better than before.

Sorry for making it into flash, dA only wants this type of format to play videos instead (based on my findings)
